Pedro and Emilia are the founders of Ocean Tribe, a boutique surf school for beginners to advanced surfers. Pedro has been surfing for 20 years across the globe and now enjoys catching his waves in the heart of Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.
Absolutely! Our beginner surf lessons are held at Hermosa Beach in North Santa Teresa. Playa Hermosa is just a few minute drive from the heart of Santa Teresa. The wide beach and slow rolling waves make it perfect for the beginner surfer.
Our group surf lessons are $80 per person. Our private surf lessons are $100 per person.
The waves in Playa Hermosa Santa Teresa are on average 3-5 feet during the dry season. Many beginner surfers will learn in the whitewash which can be 1 to 3 feet and is basically the second break of the wave before moving out into what’s called the lineup. An occasional swell may bring in larger waves of 4 to 7 feet. During the rainy season which really isn’t all that rainy and there is still plenty of sunshine for surfing the waves can range from 4-10 feet.
We offer transportation that you can add on during the booking process from the greater Santa Teresa area.
Upon booking your surf lesson you will receive detailed instructions on where to meet. We provide the location as well as images of where to park to ensure you arrive at the correct location.
